Lyric Poster
Design Brief
The objective of this project was to create an 11” x 19” poster that visually conveys the meaning of a song's lyrics. Instructions were to choose a word that represented the song as a focus, and to then incorporate the rest of the song with visual elements. I chose the song “Uncharted” by Make Them Suffer because I found it interesting to be a metalcore song that is so positive and uplifting. The theme of self-discovery and the message that it’s okay to lose your sense of identity to find a new sense of identity is what drew me to choose this song.
Research & Inspiration
I was immediately drawn to the word “Illuminated” from the lyrics. I chose this word to be my main focus in the poster. The song called referred to finding yourself in a “digital realm”, which I found the majority of inspiration from creating a digital computer-like composition.
Process
I knew that I wanted bright colors with a dark background in my poster, so I found pictures with intense and colorful light to use in my logotype. I originally decided to use pink imagery in the poster, but ultimately decided to use green and blue colors to play into the digital aspect. I cut type in the words “digital realm” to create sense of glitching in the word.
